What NES or SNES game do you most want added to Nintendo Switch Online?

One year ago   |   By Nintendo Enthusiast

Switch owners and Nintendo are both well aware that the company's barely functional online suite is not worth money. I imagine that the ensuing search for incentives beyond competent online infrastructure is why Nintendo axed the Virtual Console and instead tied a drip-feed of legacy content to their online subscription service. I'm a bit bitter, but it is what it is, and today, we finally received confirmation that one of the SNES' flagship titles, Donkey Kong Country, will be available on the service soon. It's nice to have, but there's a lot more ground that can still be made up - what...

Donkey Kong Country and more join Nintendo Switch Online on 7/15

One year ago   |   By Nintendo Enthusiast

Donkey Kong Country, a game that really super definitely should have already been available a long time ago, is finally joining the Nintendo Switch Online streaming library on July 15. The Immortal on NES and Natsume Championship Wrestling on SNES come along for the ride. The Immortal comes from publisher EA and I admittedly know nothing about it, but the internet says it's a dark fantasy action adventure. Natsume Championship Wrestling unsurprisingly comes from Natsume and is more or less the type of wrestling game you expect from the SNES era. For fun, Nintendo has shared “classified...

Donkey Kong Country Headlines Nintendo Switch Online's July Update

One year ago   |   By Game Informer

One of the most beloved platformers on the Super Nintendo is finally making its way to Switch's ever-growing library of classic games. Donkey Kong Country headlines a mid-July update that adds three titles to the suite of games offered as a part of the Nintenod Switch Online subscription package.
Joining Rare's classic co-op platformer in the SNES library is Natsume Championship Wrestling, an arcade-style pro-wrestling title that features 12 wrestlers and more than 50 moves. This month's sole NES title is The Immortal, a 1990 fantasy action game from Electronic Arts. In The Immortal, you...

Nintendo Switch Online's July lineup includes Donkey Kong Country

One year ago   |   By Destructoid

You'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise on most days, but Super Nintendo and NES games are still trickling into the Nintendo Switch Online library. On July 15, 2020, Nintendo is adding three more games to the paid service: Donkey Kong Country , Natsume Championship Wrestling , and The Immortal .
As one of the most frequently-requested games, Donkey Kong Country needs no real introduction. It's not the best in the series - we can bicker over DKC2 and DKC3 all day long (they're both essential platformers in my eyes) - but the original DKC is still a staple of the Super Nintendo...

Sadly, this doesn't involve making Gretzky bleed, but the chances are no longer 0. Nintendo's latest update to the Switch Online subscriptions includes a classic platformer and a new publisher getting on board.
An update on July 15 will include 1994's Donkey Kong Country and Virtual Console regular Natsume Championship Wrestling coming to the Super Nintendo library. The NES library will only add a single game, but it will be the 1991 Electronic Arts-published The Immortal.
